The four skilling programs aim to advance higher education, enhance language proficiency, improve employability, and facilitate a seamless transition for students into the workforce.

The programs include:

• Scholars for Outstanding Undergraduate Talent program (SCOUT)
• English Skills for Youth initiative by the British Council and Microsoft India for students in state-run engineering colleges
• Capacity-building training for international officers
• The inauguration of the Freemium Digital Library Wall at Bengaluru City University

According to Alison Barrett MBE, director India, British Council, such programs will “promote mutual understanding and create a platform for knowledge-sharing across borders.”

Announcing the launch of the SCOUT program, KSHEC will select a cohort of 30 participants, consisting of 5 students and one faculty member from each of the following universities: Bangalore University, Bengaluru City University, Gulbarga University Kalaburagi, Raichur University, Tumkur University, and Rani Channamma University.

Additionally, 2 KSHEC officials will join the group for a two-week immersive learning experience at the University of East London, scheduled from November 9 to 22.

Additionally, the British Council, in collaboration with Microsoft India, has introduced the English Skills for Youth initiative, which seeks to improve English language and communication abilities for young adults aged 18-25.

The program will be rolled out at 16 government engineering colleges under the KSHEC, benefiting 5,795 students in their second and third semesters.

Students will undertake 40 hours of self-paced coursework through the Microsoft Learning Management System, along with 30 hours of in-person or blended English practice club sessions.

To promote internationalisation, the British Council and the Karnataka government have introduced the Capacity Building for International Officers program. 

The KSHEC has chosen 28 universities and over 56 participants for this workshop, which is designed to strengthen the internationalisation efforts of Indian universities.

Meanwhile, the Freemium Digital Library Wall will provide faculty and students with access to a tier of digital content available for free.
