Once again, The PIE News’ editorial team has created a list of innovative leaders, marketeers, activists and policy makers who all offer valuable commentary on the international education ecosystem.
This 50 voices report is entirely different to the 2023 list, highlighting a new group of supporters of the industry, rising stars and legacy leaders who continue to have an impact on our sector.
The launch of the list coincides with The PIE Live Asia Pacific conference that will be taking place 29-30 July on the Gold Coast, Australia – and where many of our list will be in attendance.
Both the conference and this digest arrive at a timely intersection for the Australian sector, which faces significant challenges. Amy Baker, CEO of The PIE, expressed the importance of platforming those who lobby and campaign for international student mobility.
“We need champions to advocate for the merits and value of the industry we all work in,” said Baker.
Names in this year’s voices list include Luke Sheehy, CEO of Universities Australia, Sarina Russo, founder of the Sarina Russo Group and Nasreen Mahmud Kasuri, founder of Beaconhouse International Colleges.
En route to the Gold Coast, The PIE will also be hosting an event in Mumbai, India for the first time, taking place on July 26 2024 to explore emerging higher education partnerships in the country.

As such, we have included some Indian colleagues in the 2024 list for the first time. Previously, we had excluded India and China from the Asia Pacific list due to their sheer size and dominance – with so many potential candidates to chose from.
A deliberate balance of diversity, age, gender and experience has also been considered to ensure that a wide range of perspectives are represented in the mix of people we have named. It should be noted that none of the ‘voices’ named were aware of their inclusion in advance.
The personal brand of leaders continues to play a pivotal role in organisational goals and the list is packed full of award-winning professionals, industry judges, media commentators, entrepreneurs and social media influencers.
The 50 voices list represents the organic reach of the listed colleagues in registering on The PIE’s editorial radar, either through news coverage, thought leadership, conference appearances, social media or multimedia output.
Additional editions covering colleagues in North America and Europe are expected to be published later in the year.
